The Stichting Leren (Learning Foundation) aims to encourage learning processes and arranges research, publications, lectures, workshops, advice and projects and designs educational programmes to this end. Areas of emphasis include identity and imago, intercultural learning and Holocaust education.
Ido Abram (1940) was founder and former director of the foundation. He studied mathematics and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam and has taught mathematics, conducted research on teaching and served as an educational advisor. From 1990 through 1997 he was a professor occupying the endowed chair for Holocaust education at the University of Amsterdam. He has been the director of Stichting Leren since 1996.
The foundation serves different principals and is funded by various institutions.
